World of Warcraft: Forever is built on top of Classic Era rather than replacing it, and most of what Blizzard has confirmed so far is additive: four new zones, nine new dungeons, two new raids, a new race, and reworked talent trees. What Blizzard has not yet detailed, as of the BlizzCon 2026 panel recap and beta build 1.60.1.69893, is exactly how combat rules and day-to-day quality of life change underneath all that new content.
New content: zones, dungeons, raids, race
This is the best-documented part of the update. Blizzard's panel recap confirms four new zones — Mount Hyjal (Mount Hyjal), Shen'dralas (Shen'dralas), Riverglades (Riverglades), and Zephras Isle (Zephras Isle) — plus nine new dungeons and a new PvP battleground on the Darkspear Islands. Three of those nine dungeons are directly verifiable in beta build 1.60.1.69893 by exact name: City of Dalaran (City of Dalaran), Ruins of Lordaeron (Ruins of Lordaeron), and The Hall of Thanes (Hall of Thanes). The remaining six announced dungeons — Blackmaw Hold, Drowned City, Krol'dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison, Shaper's Terrace, and the excavation site near Whelgar's Excavation — are announced by name but not yet present in the dungeons table as of this build.
Two new raids, Hyjal Summit (20-player) and Barrow Deeps (10-player, max-level), unlock December 9, 2026, over a month after the November 4 launch. The new race, the Skyborne, is the one piece of new content that a plain subscription does not include — it requires one of the pre-order packs. Separately, six new race/class combinations (Undead Paladin, Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Orc Mage, and Troll Warlock) are free with the base subscription; see the dedicated guide on the new race and class combinations for the full breakdown.

| New PvP battleground | 1 (Darkspear Islands) | No |
New talent trees for all nine classes
Blizzard's panel recap does not go into talent tree specifics, and no build of the beta so far has changed that. What can be confirmed directly from beta build 1.60.1.69893 is that talent tree data exists for all nine classes — warrior, paladin, hunter, rogue, priest, shaman, mage, warlock, and druid — including talents such as talent #105976 (the warrior's Shield Specialization) and talent #103890 (the mage's Improved Fireball). What is not yet confirmed from an official source is how many of these talents are new for Forever versus carried over unchanged from Classic Era, whether any abilities that used to require a talent point are now baseline, or how the trees are restructured. Treat any specific claim about individual talent reworks as not yet announced until Blizzard publishes talent-by-talent patch notes.
Combat rule changes
Not yet announced. Neither Blizzard's panel recap nor the Game Informer BlizzCon interview with lead game designer Tim Jones and lead software engineer Nora Mills detailed specific combat rule changes — hit chance, crit mechanics, threat generation, or damage formulas — for Forever. The Game Informer piece confirms the interview covered "leveling improvements" and gear design as topics, but the article available to this guide does not include the actual answers given on those subjects. If you are looking for confirmation that any specific Classic Era combat mechanic has changed, that confirmation does not yet exist in an announced source.
This is worth flagging clearly because combat-rule claims are exactly the kind of detail that spreads quickly without a primary source behind them. If you see a specific claim about hit/crit unification, threat changes, or new combat formulas for Forever, check whether it traces back to Blizzard, Warcraft Wiki, Wowhead, Warcraft Tavern, or Game Informer directly — if it does not, treat it as unverified until it does.
Quality-of-life changes
Two concrete items are confirmed here. First, Game Informer's coverage confirms Blizzard is implementing "camping" system buffs, though the article does not specify what those buffs do. Second, the same coverage confirms the character models get an "SD/HD character toggle," letting you switch between the original Classic Era models and higher-detail versions. Beyond those two points, broader quality-of-life changes — inventory, auction house, group finder, or addon API changes — are not yet announced in the sources available to this guide, though Game Informer's article title references add-on support as an interview topic without detailing the answer.
What stays the same
Game Informer's BlizzCon coverage confirms the level 60 cap is maintained in Forever. Beyond that single confirmed point, WoW Forever is built on Classic Era, which by its nature has never included flying mounts, level scaling, or continents beyond the original Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. Blizzard has not announced any change to those Classic Era fundamentals for Forever, so the safest assumption is that they carry over unchanged unless and until Blizzard says otherwise.
The database backs up the "still Classic Era" framing indirectly: the game_builds record for this beta lists the product as "wow_classic_beta" rather than a separate product line, and two of the four new zones — Riverglades and Shen'dralas — sit on the existing Eastern Kingdoms/Kalimdor map structure. The other two do not: Mount Hyjal uses its own dedicated map ID separate from the classic Kalimdor continent, and Zephras Isle is set entirely outside Azeroth's continents, in Skywall, the Elemental Plane of Air. So while the product itself is still built as an extension of Classic Era, not every new zone is confined to the original two continents.
