The Warrior talent tree in WoW Forever bundles Arms, Fury, and Protection into a single 53-node tree instead of three separate Classic trees, and it is one of the trees that shipped complete in the September 17 beta. You still build toward the same three identities, but every point comes out of one shared pool, so a hybrid Arms/Protection or Fury/Protection leveling spec is a real choice rather than a respec.
What changed for the class in Forever
Blizzard's panel recap describes new race and class combinations and "talents and abilities you notice" rather than three walled-off spec trees, and the beta data backs that up: the Warrior no longer has an Arms tree, a Fury tree, and a Protection tree. It has one tree with three columns that still track those identities. As of beta build 1.60.1.69893, Forever also lets periodic damage effects roll a critical strike and merges hit rating and critical strike rating from gear into single unified stats, which matters for a Warrior mainly through talent #105950 (Deep Wounds), a bleed that can now crit instead of always landing for a fixed tick. Blizzard has not published exact numbers for how much this changes bleed throughput, so treat it as a directional change, not a quantified one.
Talent tree overview
The Warrior tree has 53 nodes across seven rows, as of beta build 1.60.1.69893. The left column keeps the Arms identity and ends in the capstone talent #105941 (Mortal Strike, 1 rank), which requires talent #105945 (Sweeping Strikes) one row up. The middle column is Fury, capped by talent #105930 (Bloodthirst, 1 rank), gated behind talent #105927 (Death Wish). The right column is Protection, capped by talent #105959 (Shield Slam, 1 rank), gated behind talent #105965 (Concussion Blow).
Early, cheap nodes are shared utility rather than spec-locked: talent #105958 (Improved Heroic Strike, 3 ranks) cuts the Rage cost of your main Rage-dump, talent #105957 (Deflection, 5 ranks) adds parry chance, and talent #105939 (Cruelty, 5 ranks) raises melee critical strike chance. Mid-tree, talent #105931 (Enrage, 5 ranks) grants a damage buff after being hit and directly unlocks talent #105928 (Flurry, 5 ranks), an attack-speed talent that only lights up once Enrage is trained.
| Column | Identity | Row-6 gate | Capstone (row 7) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Left | Arms | Sweeping Strikes | Mortal Strike |
| Middle | Fury | Death Wish | Bloodthirst |
| Right | Protection | Concussion Blow | Shield Slam |
Leveling build
A reasonable leveling build as of beta build 1.60.1.69893 leans Fury with an Arms detour, because leveling rewards fast, repeatable kills over a single execute-style finisher. Start with Cruelty (Cruelty) for crit uptime and Improved Heroic Strike (Improved Heroic Strike) to make your Rage dump spammable. Unbridled Wrath (Unbridled Wrath, 5 ranks) generates extra Rage on melee hits, which keeps a leveling Warrior swinging without waiting on Bloodrage. Piercing Howl (Piercing Howl, 1 rank) is worth a point for kiting adds you pull by accident. Push toward Enrage (Enrage) and Death Wish (Death Wish) once you can spare the points, since both keep paying off through the Fury capstone, Bloodthirst (Bloodthirst), whose direct-damage hit is the single hardest-hitting ability available before max level.
Dungeon and raid builds
For group content the tree splits cleanly by role. A tanking build takes the Protection column start to finish: talent #105976 (Shield Specialization, 5 ranks) for block chance and the Rage it generates on a block, talent #110856 (Defiance, 3 ranks) for threat while a shield is equipped, and talent #105971 (Master of Defense, 2 ranks) for extra Rage on dodge or parry, building up to talent #105965 (Concussion Blow) and the capstone talent #105959 (Shield Slam) — the ability that generates the most threat in the kit, per its own description.
A damage build for dungeons and raids as of beta build 1.60.1.69893 takes talent #105950 (Deep Wounds, 3 ranks) for a bleed on critical strikes and talent #105947 (Impale, 2 ranks) for bigger critical hits, then finishes at talent #105941 (Mortal Strike) for the healing-reduction debuff Arms brings to a raid. If your raid needs sustained AoE and self-healing instead, the Fury side through talent #105930 (Bloodthirst) with talent #105934 (Blood Craze, 3 ranks) for health regeneration after taking a big hit is a reasonable alternative; the beta data does not indicate which of the two performs better in current dungeon and raid content, so this is a build choice, not a proven ranking.
PvP build
Survivability and crowd-control resistance carry more weight against players than against mobs. Iron Will (Iron Will, 5 ranks) reduces stun and fear duration, and Piercing Howl (Piercing Howl) slows a kiting opponent instead of only trash adds. Death Wish (Death Wish) trades a damage-taken increase for burst, which is a real risk in PvP, so pair it with Improved Shield Wall (Improved Shield Wall, 2 ranks) or Last Stand (Last Stand, 1 rank) for a defensive cooldown to survive the window you opened. Concussion Blow (Concussion Blow) is a stun that most PvP builds take regardless of column focus, since it is one of the few hard-stun options on the tree.
Rotation and priorities
Classic Warrior rotations are built around Rage as a resource you generate by attacking and spend on abilities, carried over from Classic Era: Arms opens with Rend for a bleed, waits for a dodge or parry to spend Overpower, and finishes with Mortal Strike on cooldown while filling with Heroic Strike whenever Rage is close to capping. Fury alternates Bloodthirst and Whirlwind on cooldown and fills with Heroic Strike or Cleave depending on single-target versus AoE. Protection opens threat with Sunder Armor stacks, then leans on Shield Slam, Revenge, and Devastate-style fillers whenever they're off cooldown.
What Forever changes for this loop: with periodic damage now able to crit, Deep Wounds (Deep Wounds) and Rend's bleed component both benefit from the crit talents in the Arms column instead of being flat, unmodifiable ticks — worth prioritizing Cruelty (Cruelty) or Impale (Impale) earlier than a Classic Arms guide would suggest. Flurry (Flurry) also matters more once you have Enrage, since Forever's unified tree lets a Fury Warrior grab it without giving up early Arms utility the way a Classic three-tree build would have forced.
Best races for the class
Warrior was already open to every Classic Era race on both factions, so Forever adds one new option rather than a new race-class pairing: the Skyborne, a neutral race available to Warrior on both Alliance and Horde according to Blizzard's panel recap. The beta has not yet detailed Skyborne racial abilities, so treat any Skyborne pick as a roleplay or aesthetic choice for now rather than a mechanical one.
| Race | Faction | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Orc | Horde | Blood Fury and Hardiness are carried over from Classic Era and favor an aggressive Fury build |
| Human | Alliance | Weapon skill and Diplomacy racials are carried over from Classic Era and suit an Arms/PvP build |
| Dwarf | Alliance | Stoneform is carried over from Classic Era and helps a Protection tank shrug off debuffs |
| Skyborne | Both | New in Forever; racials not yet announced as of beta build 1.60.1.69893 |
Among the six new race and class combinations Blizzard announced for Forever, none touch the Warrior directly — Warrior keeps its full Classic Era roster and gains only the Skyborne option.
