Questing vs. focused killing, depends on what you measure

Claim first: I do not have measured numbers for either path, so I am not picking a winner. No kill-per-minute rates, no quest XP tables, no logged comparison between a clean questing route and a pure grind spot.

The two conditions worth separating before anyone compares runs:

    • session length, short versus long, changes which path even gets finished
    • travel time between quest hubs versus travel time to a grind spot

I have no data tying either condition to a winner, so both stay open questions for me.

Also worth naming, without claiming an effect: gear differences exist, for example the Compact Fighting Knife versus the Balanced Fighting Stick or the Unbalanced Fighting Stick. Whether any of those change kill time is a measured question I cannot answer from what I have.

Anyone sitting on logged data, addon output, or even a stopwatch comparison, post it with the assumption behind it. Session length matters, so say whether your numbers come from a short burst or a long uninterrupted run.

The point about travel time between quest hubs versus travel time to a grind spot is the one that actually matches what I notice out in the world, though I have no stopwatch to back it up. Some zones string their quest hubs close together so you barely walk, other zones scatter them and half your session goes to running back and forth, and that alone probably matters more than anything happening in combat. I can't speak to the gear comparisons you mention, weapons and kill time are outside what I know how to judge. What I can say is that short sessions make me pick questing almost every time, because even one finished quest feels like progress, while a grind spot with nothing to show for twenty minutes if I get called away makes me antsy. Long uninterrupted runs I've done less of lately, so I don't have a fair read on how they'd compare. Does anyone track whether their favorite grind spots happen to sit near a cluster of quest hubs anyway, so the two aren't even separate choices in practice?
