The zone is also flagged in Warcraft Wiki as one of the few non-starting zones with both a phased zone map and phased terrain, meaning what you see can change as you complete the questline.
That 30-35 range puts Mount Hyjal below both of the other two open-world zones covered on this site: Riverglades sits at 35-45, and Shen'dralas borders the 30-40 Desolace zone without a confirmed range of its own. If those ranges hold for the Forever build, Mount Hyjal reads as the earliest of the three non-starting zones, though Blizzard has not published a recommended zone order and the level bands overlap enough that a strict sequence is not guaranteed.
The database record for this zone gives it its own dedicated map ID (2832) rather than sharing the map ID used by the pre-existing Mount Hyjal raid-entrance zone in the client (map ID 1, the Kalimdor continent). How to get there
Mount Hyjal sits in Kalimdor, reached the way the established lore describes: through the passes leading up from the surrounding Ashenvale and Winterspring approaches toward Nordrassil. Blizzard has not published Forever-specific travel details such as new flight paths or portals for this zone, so treat exact routing as not yet announced until it is confirmed in a later beta build.
Quest hubs and storylines
According to Warcraft Wiki, the zone's questing structure runs through four sacred shrines — the Grove of Aessina, Shrine of Aviana, Sanctuary of Malorne, and Shrine of Goldrinn — before moving on to Darkwhisper Gorge and finally Sulfuron Spire. The overarching story has you defending Nordrassil against an invasion by Ragnaros and Twilight's Hammer forces, then counterattacking. In the original Cataclysm-era telling of this story, that counterattack led into the Firelands raid; Blizzard has instead announced this zone's raid content in Forever as Hyjal Summit (20-player, unlocking December 9, 2026). Whether Hyjal Summit is a renamed continuation of that same story beat or a distinct raid has not been detailed.
Notable NPCs and rare mobs
Warcraft Wiki names Malfurion Stormrage and Cenarius as the central figures overseeing the zone, alongside the Wild Gods Aviana, Goldrinn, and Tortolla, each tied to one of the shrine hubs. Blizzard has not published a rare-mob spawn list for the Forever version of the zone, and beta build 1.60.1.69893 does not expose a searchable NPC-to-zone mapping, so specific rare spawns are not yet in the beta data.
None of these four named figures — Malfurion, Cenarius, Aviana, or Goldrinn — could be matched to a specific NPC record by name search in the current build, which is consistent with the zone's broader pattern: the geography and quest-hub names are established, but the moment-to-moment content (individual NPCs, quest text, rare spawns) is largely still to be filled in or not yet exposed through the data this guide can query.
Dungeons and raids in the zone
The zone's raid, Hyjal Summit, is confirmed at 20 players and scheduled to unlock December 9, 2026, per Blizzard's panel recap. Beta build 1.60.1.69893 already contains early loot assets tagged for it, including an item called Hyjal Summit Trash Weapon (Hyjal Summit Trash Weapon), which points to boss encounter work being underway even though no boss list has been published. No standard 5-player dungeon has been announced as located inside Mount Hyjal itself; the nearby Hall of Thanes dungeon Blizzard announced for this content wave is located beneath Ironforge, not in this zone. Resources and professions
Beta build 1.60.1.69893 already contains a handful of zone-tagged items and recipes for Mount Hyjal. Engineering gets two new teleport recipes built specifically for this zone: Dimensional Transporter - Mt. Hyjal (Dimensional Transporter - Mt. Hyjal) and EZ and SAF Field Transporter: Mt. Hyjal (EZ and SAF Field Transporter: Mt. Hyjal), both of which craft the matching teleport items Dimensional Transporter - Mt. Hyjal and EZ and SAF Field Transporter: Mt. Hyjal. Cooking and gathering also show up through consumables like Filled Hyjal Waterskin (Filled Hyjal Waterskin) and a crafting reagent, Hyjal Berries (Hyjal Berries). A reputation-gated cosmetic reward, Guardians of Hyjal Tabard (Guardians of Hyjal Tabard), is also present in the build, confirming a zone-specific reputation faction exists even though Blizzard has not named it or published the reputation grind associated with it.
Beyond these confirmed data points, Blizzard has not announced a full profession resource map (ore, herb, or skinning nodes) for Mount Hyjal, so treat gathering routes as not yet in the beta data until node placement is verifiable in-game.
