Hall of Thanes is a five-player dungeon for levels 13-18, set in a burial chamber beneath Ironforge that Dark Iron dwarves and restless undead have disturbed. It is one of nine new dungeons Blizzard announced for The Hall of Thanes at the BlizzCon 2026 "What's Next" panel, and as of beta build 1.60.1.69893 it is present in the local game data as an instanced dungeon, though its boss and quest data have not been imported yet.

Overview, location and level range

According to Warcraft Tavern's dungeon breakdown, Hall of Thanes sits at levels 13-18 and is described as "the sacred burial chamber of the dwarves," located deep within the heart of Ironforge in Dun Morogh Dun Morogh. Blizzard's own panel recap corroborates the location, calling it simply "Hall of Thanes beneath Ironforge." The chamber has been invaded: Warcraft Tavern reports Dark Iron dwarf intruders alongside undead hauntings inside the tombs, which fits the general Dark Iron vs. Bronzebeard conflict that runs through much of Ironforge's existing lore.

The dungeon is not the only known excavation beneath the dwarven capital. Warcraft Wiki documents a separate real chamber called Old Ironforge, sealed until Cataclysm, where King Magni Bronzebeard performed the titan ritual that turned him to diamond. Blizzard has not said whether Hall of Thanes reuses that specific space or is an entirely new chamber elsewhere under the city, so treat any connection between the two as unconfirmed lore color rather than a stated fact. The local zone database does carry a dedicated interior zone record for the dungeon, The Hall of Thanes, separate from the open-world Ironforge Ironforge zone above it — a sign the instance itself is further along in the build than its quest and boss data.

How to get there

Hall of Thanes is reached from inside Ironforge Ironforge itself. Warcraft Tavern notes the entrance favors Alliance characters, who can walk in directly from the city; Horde players are described as needing to "find alternate routes," which most likely means a flight path or a run through Alliance territory rather than a Horde-side entrance. Blizzard has not published the exact portal or elevator location as of this beta build, so exact walking directions are not yet confirmed.

Ironforge is one of the two original Alliance capitals, and every Alliance race in Forever can reach it quickly through the tram to Stormwind or the standard Dun Morogh flight paths. For Horde players, the realistic plan for now is to fly to the nearest neutral or Horde outpost in the Wetlands or Loch Modan and run in, since no Horde-side back entrance to the dwarven capital exists anywhere else in the game as of this build.

Bosses and their abilities

Boss names and abilities for Hall of Thanes are not yet in the beta data (build 1.60.1.69893). Neither the local database nor Blizzard's panel recap nor Warcraft Tavern's dungeon coverage lists a confirmed boss roster for this dungeon; Warcraft Tavern explicitly marks the boss list as "unknown" in its own breakdown. Compare this with Gnomeregan Gnomeregan, a similar-sized dungeon in the same corner of the Eastern Kingdoms whose bosses have been public since Classic — Hall of Thanes has no equivalent published list yet.

Notable loot

No loot table has been published or found in the local item database for Hall of Thanes specifically. Warcraft Tavern's general dungeon overview states that Blizzard has overhauled dungeon loot across all nine new dungeons so that "every boss drops guaranteed rare (blue) items," with hundreds of new items added to both new and old dungeons — but that is a system-wide statement, not a Hall of Thanes-specific drop list. Until a boss roster is confirmed, treat any claimed Hall of Thanes loot you see elsewhere as speculation.

Quests for this dungeon

The local quest database has no entries tied to Hall of Thanes by name as of this beta build, and neither Blizzard nor Warcraft Tavern has published a quest chain for the dungeon. Given the burial-chamber setting and Dark Iron/undead threat, a questline tied to defending or reclaiming the tombs is a reasonable guess, but it is only a guess — this section will be updated once quest data or an official quest list appears in the build.

Tips for tanks, healers and damage dealers

Because no boss abilities are confirmed yet, specific mechanic call-outs are not possible. What can be said from the confirmed enemy composition: expect a mix of Dark Iron dwarves (likely armored melee and casters, consistent with Dark Iron encounters elsewhere in the game) and undead (which in most WoW dungeons carry disease or fear-adjacent effects). Tanks should be ready to hold aggro through what is likely a burial-chamber layout with multiple side rooms rather than a single corridor, based on how Blizzard has described the space. Healers and damage dealers should bring standard level 13-18 consumables; nothing in the confirmed material points to an unusual mechanic like heavy AoE damage or enrage timers at this level range.

One system-wide change is worth knowing before you queue: Warcraft Tavern reports that Blizzard has restructured dungeon experience gains for Forever so that "players will no longer be able to spam dungeons for experience gain." Completing the dungeon's questline is meant to provide the primary reward, with repeat clears giving noticeably less experience than before. That makes Hall of Thanes worth running once for its quests and loot rather than farming it back-to-back purely to level up a low-level character, at least until Blizzard publishes different numbers. As beta testing continues, this section will be updated with real pull-by-pull information once Hall of Thanes bosses are confirmed.
