Alcaz Prison is a level 48-53 dungeon on Alcaz Island off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh Dustwallow Marsh, where naga have retaken the old prison and are assaulting the Defias Brotherhood inmates still locked up inside. Warcraft Tavern reports that "naga have turned the prison into a stronghold, as they assault the Defias Brotherhood prisoners," building the new dungeon directly on top of a location with a long, well-documented history in WoW lore rather than inventing a setting from scratch.

Overview, location and level range

Warcraft Tavern's dungeon guide sets the level range at 48-53 and places the dungeon on Alcaz Island Alcaz Island, just off Dustwallow Marsh. The island's real history, according to Warcraft Wiki, makes this one of the more lore-rich settings among the nine new dungeons: King Varian Wrynn was once held captive here by the Defias Brotherhood, who were allied with the dragon Onyxia in a plot to fracture his mind. The island later fell under the control of the Strashaz naga tribe, and a mad scientist named Doctor Weavil built a technological base there staffed with undead gnome minions. After the Theramore's Fall scenario, the island became largely deserted. Forever's dungeon picks up a new chapter of that same conflict: naga reclaiming the island from the Defias prisoners who still occupy it.

Dustwallow Marsh itself has long been a crossroads zone for both factions, home to the neutral goblin town of Ratchet and, in older content, the fallen city of Theramore. Placing Alcaz Prison just offshore keeps the new dungeon close to territory both Alliance and Horde characters already pass through while leveling, rather than requiring a special trip to reach it.

How to get there

The dungeon sits on Alcaz Island, reachable from Dustwallow Marsh Dustwallow Marsh on the Kalimdor coast. Warcraft Wiki notes that the island has historically been a no-fly zone with anti-aircraft defenses, so players should not assume a flying mount is the fastest way in even once flight becomes generally available at higher levels — a boat or swim from the Dustwallow Marsh shoreline has always been the more reliable route to Alcaz Island. Blizzard has not published a specific new entrance for the Forever-era dungeon as of this beta build, so expect to rely on general island navigation until an official map or entrance callout appears.

Bosses and their abilities

No boss names have been confirmed for Alcaz Prison. Warcraft Tavern's dungeon guide lists the boss roster as "unknown" — boss list not yet in the beta data (build 1.60.1.69893). The confirmed enemy types are naga and Defias Brotherhood prisoners, fighting each other as much as the player in some capacity, based on Warcraft Tavern's framing of naga "assaulting" the inmates rather than the two groups being allied against players. Warcraft Wiki's existing lore on the island also mentions Doctor Weavil's undead gnome constructs and an underwater cave called Jewelhammer's Vault; whether either of those makes an appearance in the new dungeon is not confirmed by Blizzard, and treating them as guaranteed encounters would go beyond what any source currently supports.

Notable loot

No loot table has been published for Alcaz Prison, and nothing in the local item database can be confidently tied to this specific dungeon yet. As with the other new dungeons, Warcraft Tavern's general Forever coverage confirms that every boss across all nine new dungeons is expected to drop a guaranteed rare-quality item as part of a broader loot overhaul, but no Alcaz Prison-specific items have surfaced in the beta build so far.

Quests for this dungeon

No quest chain is confirmed for Alcaz Prison in the local database as of build 1.60.1.69893. Given the three-way tension between naga, Defias prisoners and the player described by Warcraft Tavern, a questline about freeing or interrogating Defias captives — or simply clearing out the naga incursion — is a reasonable guess, consistent with how Dustwallow Marsh's existing Defias and Theramore storylines already play out nearby. No specific quest names or objectives have been confirmed as of this beta build.

Tips for tanks, healers and damage dealers

With no confirmed bosses, exact strategy is not yet possible. The naga-versus-Defias premise suggests groups may encounter fights where the two enemy factions are already damaging each other, a pattern used elsewhere in WoW to signal that pulling carefully and letting enemies thin each other out can be safer than rushing in. Naga casters elsewhere in the game commonly bring slow or root effects, so healers should be ready to cleanse or heal through mobility loss rather than assume a straightforward tank-and-spank fight. For historical comparison, players familiar with Deadmines Deadmines or Stormwind Stockade Stormwind Stockade will recognize the general Defias Brotherhood enemy type, though Alcaz Prison is a separate instance with its own unconfirmed mechanics, and the Varian Wrynn history here also connects loosely to Onyxia's Lair Onyxia's Lair. Bring level 48-53 consumables and expect this section to be updated once real boss data appears in the build.

Forever's revised dungeon experience rules apply here as well: Warcraft Tavern reports that a dungeon's own questline now provides most of its experience value, with repeat clears giving noticeably less than in Classic. At level 48-53, most groups are already close enough to Forever's overall pacing toward 60 that a single thorough clear of Alcaz Prison for quests and gear is likely to be more efficient than farming it back-to-back for experience alone, though real testing may adjust that picture once the beta level cap rises past 53.
