Something that has saved a few of my raid nights: making the Shaman call out totems before we pull, not after.
What I ask for:
- A short line in party or raid chat before the pull, naming the totems going down
- If the group has a Dwarf Shaman on the Alliance side or any Shaman running the new combined tree, ask ahead whether they're leaning Elemental, Enhancement or Restoration for that pull, since the tree now covers all three
- One person designated to repeat the callout if voice chat is noisy, so it doesn't get lost
- A quick note if a Tablet of Group Astral Recall is going to be used, so nobody wonders what's going on
Why this helps: a ten second callout avoids five minutes of confusion after a wipe, and it means nobody is caught off guard by what the Shaman is doing that pull.
This isn't the only way to do it, just what has worked for groups I've run. Some groups prefer a fixed totem set every fight and skip the callout entirely, which is fine too if everyone already knows the plan.
How does your group handle this? Do you call totems every pull or only for the hard ones? Curious what timing works best for others, share what you do.
