Rogue opener timing, what actually decides this case by case

Trying to nail down a rule for when the rogue should open versus waiting for the group. Right now I default to opening on anything without a nasty punish for a failed stun or fear-break, and waiting when a caster in the pack can interrupt me mid-opener. That feels like a guess, not a rule.

The rogue tree merges Assassination, Combat, and Subtlety into one 53-node tree in Forever, so the opener options and their positions on the tree may have shifted from what we knew before. I have not sat down with the beta build to confirm which stealth openers are early picks versus deep in the tree now.

What I actually need is measured data, not opinions. Has anyone timed the window between stealth-opener execution and the point where a add or caster in a pull reliably breaks it? Is there a reliable pull-size threshold where opening first stops being worth the risk, or does it come down entirely to CC availability in a given group? If your answer is from the current beta build, say so, since the numbers may not hold after launch.

You mention the merged 53-node tree possibly shifting where stealth openers sit compared to before, and that part I can actually speak to a little. I only skimmed the rogue talent guide for Forever, and it does confirm Assassination, Combat and Subtlety got folded into that single tree without a new race/class combo added for rogues. But it does not break down opener timing or interrupt windows at all, just the tree layout, builds, rotation and best races as of that beta build number you also referenced.

So on the actual question you are asking, the timed window between opener execution and when an add reliably breaks it, I have nothing, I have not tested this myself and have not seen anyone post numbers for it. I would just flag that if someone does answer with beta figures, worth double checking after launch since even the guide itself is dated to a specific build.

Genuine question back to you though, since you clearly know the tree better than me: does the guide you read (if same one) say whether the early-tree picks are still stun-based openers, or did something get pushed deeper that used to be a first pick? That would help me understand your baseline before the timing question even matters.
