The Crossroads at dusk, and I have absolutely no plan, which is usually when the best evenings happen. I get pulled into a caravan escort by someone I have never met before, and within an hour I am cycling through every shape I have because the road just refuses to be simple. First it is a quick shape to catch up with the wagon after I wander off chasing a butterfly, because apparently that is a personality trait of mine now. Then something bigger and slower creeps up from the scrub and I am back on two feet just long enough to panic before diving into a sturdier shape to hold the line while my new friend catches their breath.
What gets me every time is how the Skyborne forms folded into all this without ever feeling like a separate toy, they just showed up when the fight or the road demanded something new, and I could not tell you why or how under the hood, I only know the tree let me flow from one shape into the next without stopping to think. Healing hands in between, because someone always needs mending, then back to a shape built for speed once the caravan finally hits open ground and we just need to outrun the whole mess instead of fighting it.
By the time the wagon rolls into safety I am worn out in the good way, the kind where you stumble into camp and just sit in the grass for a while. No numbers to report, no ranking to brag about, just a road that asked something different of me every mile and a build that somehow kept up. Anyone else had one of those nights where the whole kit gets used and you only notice afterward how much ground you covered?
