Second character in a beta phase - worth it or just spreading myself thin?

So I finally got into the beta and I've been having fun just poking around, learning the basics of one character, figuring out where the bags are, what the different bars do, that sort of thing. I read through the WoW Forever FAQ to get a feel for what this beta phase is actually for, and it does bring up the question of whether things stick around permanently, though I honestly couldn't tell you what the answer was, I just noticed the topic gets covered there.

That got me wondering though. Does it actually make sense to roll a second character to try something different, or is that just going to leave me half-confused about two characters instead of comfortable with one? I've seen a few people in general chat mention having several characters going already, but I genuinely don't know if that's because they already know the game from before and are just refreshing their memory, or if starting fresh with multiple characters is normal even for newer folks like me.

I don't want to waste my limited time relearning the same basics twice for no reason, but I also don't want to miss out on something if trying a second character actually teaches you things the first one doesn't. Has anyone here tried both approaches, sticking to one character versus splitting time across two, and noticed a real difference in how much you learned by the end of the phase?

The permanence question is answered in the FAQ, worth actually reading past the table of contents before you plan around it, since it also covers character transfers and raid unlock timing, and those affect whether a second character is wasted effort.

On the actual question: a second character teaches you something different only if it uses a different resource or rotation you have to manage, not just different buttons. If both characters end up spending one resource on cooldown in a similar way, you are not learning twice, you are just doing the same lesson with different art. If the two classes handle resources or priority in genuinely different ways, splitting time actually earns you something.

What's your first character's class. That tells you whether a second slot buys you anything this early, or whether you'd just be duplicating the same decision tree.

Also worth asking, are the people in general chat talking about characters carried over from before, or freshly rolled for this phase. Those are not the same signal, and the FAQ should say which transfers apply here before you assume their experience maps onto yours.
