AION 2 is a PC game. The Steam store page says it in its short description: "PC only, on Unreal Engine 5." The global version came out on 5 October 2026 and is free to play; according to NC's launch FAQ, there is an optional monthly membership. What the membership and the shop cost is in our guide to membership and shop. Below are the system requirements as listed on the Steam store page, and NC's answers from its launch FAQ on controllers, platforms, languages and servers.
Minimum and recommended specs
The Steam store page lists these values (retrieved on 20 October 2026). Both columns require a 64-bit processor and operating system.
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10/11 (64-bit) | Windows 10/11 (64-bit) |
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 2600 / Intel Core i5-10500 | AMD Ryzen 7 3700X / Intel Core i7-11700 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB) | NVIDIA RTX 2070 (8 GB) |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Network | Broadband internet connection | Broadband internet connection |
| Storage | 100 GB available space | 100 GB available space |
Both columns carry a note. For the minimum specs: "SSD Recommended. When using FHD resolution in-game, set the graphics preset to Very Low to ensure compatibility." For the recommended specs, the same note says "Low" instead of "Very Low".
So even with the recommended hardware, the store page names the Low graphics preset for FHD. The store page does not say which hardware is needed for higher presets or for resolutions above FHD.
The page names only NVIDIA graphics cards. An AMD or Intel graphics card of comparable power is not listed.
Controller
NC's launch FAQ of 30 September 2026 answers: "While AION 2 is playable with a controller, it is not officially supported." You can therefore use a controller, but NC does not officially support it.
Steam Deck and Linux
Asked about Linux or Steam Deck support, the same FAQ answers: "While AION 2 may be playable on other platforms or devices, at this time we will only be providing official support for Steam and PURPLE on Windows PC."
The Steam store page lists the Steam Deck compatibility as "Playable". That does not change NC's statement: official support covers only Windows PC.
Consoles and mobile
Asked about mobile, the launch FAQ says: "The global version will be available on Steam and PURPLE." Official support covers only Steam and PURPLE on Windows PC, and the store page says "PC only". Neither source mentions a version for PlayStation 5 or another console.
Steam or PURPLE
You can play on Steam or on PURPLE; the launch FAQ names both as the platforms with official support on Windows PC. According to the launch FAQ, the in-game content is the same on both, and Steam and PURPLE players share the same servers. You do not need to link a PURPLE account to play on Steam. If you want the same character and progress on both platforms, you link the two accounts.
Languages and server regions
According to the launch FAQ, the global version has voice-over in English, Japanese and Korean. Interface and subtitles are available in English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Japanese and Korean. You change the language in the game: the gear icon at the top right opens Settings, where you choose the language tab.
NC names server locations in North America, South America, Europe and Japan.
What is not confirmed
In the sources checked on 20 October 2026, NC does not state:
- which AMD or Intel graphics cards match the listed NVIDIA cards,
- which hardware NC expects for higher graphics presets or resolutions above FHD,
- whether and when a controller will be officially supported,
- a version for PlayStation 5 or another console,
- a version for mobile devices.
The store page can change with later patches. We update this guide when NC publishes new values.
