Barrow Deeps is a new 10-player raid in World of Warcraft: Forever, described by Blizzard as aimed at max-level characters and confirmed to unlock on December 9, 2026, the same date as the 20-player Hyjal Summit. Warcraft Wiki places its lore setting in an ancient cave system beneath Mount Hyjal, previously home to sleeping Druids of the Claw and, in Warcraft III lore, Illidan's 10,000-year imprisonment. As of beta build 1.60.1.69893, Blizzard has not published a boss list or loot table for it.

Overview, size and unlock date

Blizzard's panel recap lists Barrow Deeps as a 10-player raid, smaller than Hyjal Summit's 20 players, and specifically targeted at max-level characters — the panel recap's own phrasing was "10-player, maximum-level," distinguishing it from a leveling-zone dungeon. It unlocks December 9, 2026, alongside Hyjal Summit, five weeks after the November 4 launch. No heroic or alternate difficulty mode has been announced.

A 10-player raid size is new territory for Classic Era: every existing Classic Era raid is built for either 20 players (Zul'Gurub, Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj) or 40 players (Molten Core, Onyxia's Lair, Blackwing Lair, Ahn'Qiraj Temple, Naxxramas), with no 10-player raid tier in the original game. Barrow Deeps introduces that size for the first time in this content line, which is worth knowing if you are used to Classic Era's raid roster sizes and assuming Forever's raids would slot into the same 20/40 pattern.

Attunement and how to get there

Blizzard has not published an attunement chain for Barrow Deeps. Warcraft Wiki's lore places the physical location beneath Mount Hyjal, which makes an entrance somewhere in or near Mount Hyjal plausible, but this is inference from the zone's geography rather than a confirmed access route. Treat the actual entrance location and any attunement requirement as not yet announced.

Boss order and abilities

Not yet announced. Warcraft Wiki's Barrow Deeps article covers Warcraft III-era lore — the Druids of the Claw who slept there, Illidan's imprisonment, and Third War campaign events — but none of that lore article describes raid bosses, since it predates the raid's existence as an instance. As of beta build 1.60.1.69893, no NPC, quest, or spell record in the database is tagged with the name "Barrow Deeps," so no boss names can be confirmed from the beta data either. A dungeon-table entry named Starfall Barrow Den (Starfall Barrow Den) exists in the build and shares the word "Barrow" with this raid's name, but it is registered as a standard dungeon rather than a raid and has a different full name, so it should not be assumed to be the same instance without further confirmation.

The Warcraft III framing is a strong lore hook even without a confirmed boss list: the Barrow Deeps were where Malfurion Stormrage sealed away Illidan Stormrage for 10,000 years after the War of the Satyr, and where several Druids of the Claw slept alongside him. Whether Forever's raid version of Barrow Deeps deals with Illidan directly, with something that has grown in that space since his eventual release in later Warcraft lore, or with an unrelated threat has not been announced. Treat any specific boss name you see elsewhere — Illidan included — as unconfirmed speculation until Blizzard publishes an actual encounter list.

Loot tables

Not yet announced. No loot table has been published. Beta build 1.60.1.69893 does contain four placeholder weapon assets explicitly tagged "Barrow Deeps": Monster - 1H Mace, Barrow Deeps - Red, Monster - 2H Mace, Barrow Deeps - Red, Monster - 2H Mace, Barrow Deeps - Dark, and Monster - Mace, Barrow Deeps. All four are "Monster" weapons, meaning they are the visual weapon models bosses or trash mobs hold rather than confirmed player-lootable items, but their presence confirms Blizzard has started building out this raid's assets in the client. Do not plan gear upgrades around these until an actual loot table is published.

The naming pattern across the four items — two mace variants labeled "Red" and one labeled "Dark," alongside a plain, unlabeled "Monster - Mace, Barrow Deeps" — suggests at least a few visually distinct boss-held weapons are already modeled, which is a reasonable sign of active encounter development even without a public boss list.

Consumables and preparation

Blizzard has not published consumable recommendations or preparation requirements specific to Barrow Deeps. Because it is described as max-level content, characters will need to reach the level cap through the existing Classic Era content plus the four new zones before the raid becomes relevant on December 9, 2026. No Forever-specific consumables have been announced for this raid.

The same five-week gap between the November 4 launch and the December 9 raid unlock applies here as it does for Hyjal Summit. Since Barrow Deeps explicitly targets max-level characters rather than being reachable mid-leveling, that gap matters even more for this raid — you need to actually be at the level cap, not just partway through the new zones, before Barrow Deeps becomes relevant at all.

Raid composition

Blizzard has not published a recommended role split for Barrow Deeps' 10 player slots. As a smaller raid than Hyjal Summit, it is reasonable to expect a tighter tank/healer/damage ratio typical of 10-player Classic Era content, but Blizzard has not confirmed a specific composition, and no Forever-specific raid mechanics that would change standard role assignments have been announced for this instance.

Because Barrow Deeps is aimed at max-level characters rather than being tied to a specific leveling zone the way Hyjal Summit is tied to Mount Hyjal, it is likely meant to be approached after a full run through the new zones and dungeons rather than as a leveling-adjacent raid. That reading follows from Blizzard's own "maximum-level" phrasing in the panel recap rather than from any published raid design document, so treat it as a reasonable inference rather than a confirmed design intent.
