Blackmaw Hold is a level 55-60 dungeon built inside the existing furbolg settlement of the same name in northern Blackmaw Hold, one of the last-leveling-range instances Blizzard announced for WoW Forever. Warcraft Tavern's coverage calls it "one of the largest furbolg dens" in the game and reports rumors of heavy corruption inside, though as of beta build 1.60.1.69893 the dungeon exists in the local data only as its open-world zone, not yet as a separate instance record. This page lays out exactly what has and has not been confirmed so far, rather than filling the gaps with guesswork.

Overview, location and level range

Warcraft Tavern's dedicated dungeon guide sets Blackmaw Hold at levels 55-60, located "at the far northern side of Azshara." Warcraft Wiki's existing entry on Blackmaw Hold — the real-world furbolg village this dungeon is built around — describes it as sitting "along the northern mountain range of Azshara" and identifies it as the capital of the Blackmaw furbolg tribe, inhabited "since before the War of the Ancients," more than ten thousand years in Warcraft's internal timeline. The wiki also documents the settlement's layout: multiple furbolg camps, a bone pit, a garden and graveyard area, a guardian totem, and a bear-head-shaped entrance marking the way in. None of that existing geography is confirmed to map directly onto the new dungeon's internal layout, but it gives a strong sense of the setting Forever is building on. Azshara itself has long been one of Kalimdor's higher-level zones, and placing a new 55-60 dungeon inside an existing furbolg stronghold there fits the pattern Blizzard has used for the other endgame-range dungeons in this announcement, layering new instanced content onto locations players already know rather than opening entirely new maps.

How to get there

The dungeon sits in northern Blackmaw Hold Blackmaw Hold, itself part of the larger Azshara zone in Kalimdor. The local build tracks two Azshara-related zone records: the familiar open-world map, Azshara, and a separate entry, Azshara, flagged internally as an instanced variant — the kind of split the build also uses for other Forever zones that received endgame updates. Both factions can already reach Azshara through the standard Kalimdor flight network; Blizzard has not published a specific instance entrance beyond "the far northern side" of the zone as of this beta build. It is worth being precise about naming here: a different, older furbolg faction known as the Blackmaw tribe also has a presence around Ursolan in Winterspring Winterspring, and the local item database still contains reputation items tied to that Winterspring faction. Those are a separate, pre-existing part of the game and are not confirmed to be connected to this new Azshara dungeon, despite the shared tribe name.

Bosses and their abilities

No boss names have been confirmed for Blackmaw Hold. Warcraft Tavern's dungeon guide lists the boss roster as "unknown," and the local NPC and item data have nothing tied to this dungeon specifically — boss list not yet in the beta data (build 1.60.1.69893). The only confirmed enemy type is corrupted furbolgs, and Warcraft Tavern's phrasing ("rumored heavy corruption") suggests the dungeon's central threat is some form of corrupting influence acting on the tribe, though the nature of that corruption (Old God, Legion, Emerald Nightmare or something new to Forever) has not been specified by Blizzard.

Notable loot

No loot table has been published for Blackmaw Hold, and nothing in the local item database can be confidently tied to this specific dungeon. As with the other new dungeons, Warcraft Tavern's general Forever dungeon coverage confirms that every boss is expected to drop a guaranteed rare-quality item as part of a loot overhaul spanning all nine new instances, but that is a system-wide statement rather than a Blackmaw Hold-specific list.

Quests for this dungeon

No quest chain is confirmed for Blackmaw Hold in the local database. Given the corruption angle Warcraft Tavern describes, a questline about investigating or curing the furbolgs is a reasonable guess, in keeping with how furbolg corruption has been handled in other WoW zones, but no specific quest names or objectives have surfaced as of this beta build.

Tips for tanks, healers and damage dealers

With no confirmed bosses, specific strategy is not yet possible. What is confirmed points to a den-style dungeon with multiple furbolg camps rather than a single boss hallway, based on the wiki's description of the existing settlement's layout, so tanks should expect to clear several trash groups between bosses and watch for packs of enraged furbolgs, a common WoW furbolg mechanic elsewhere in the game even though it is not yet confirmed for this specific dungeon. At level 55-60, bring endgame-leveling consumables rather than early-game gear, since this is one of the two highest-level dungeons Blizzard has announced alongside The Shaper's Terrace Shaper's Terrace. This section will be updated with confirmed mechanics once Blackmaw Hold's boss data reaches the beta build.

Blackmaw Hold also sits at the level range where Forever's changed dungeon experience rules matter least for pure leveling speed, since most groups reaching level 55 are close enough to the level 60 cap that questing and dungeon clears both remain useful. Even so, Warcraft Tavern's reporting that a dungeon's own questline now gives more experience than repeat clears applies here too, so plan on running Blackmaw Hold for its quests and gear on the way to 60 rather than as a pure farm loop, and revisit this guide once real numbers replace these general expectations.
