AION 2 launched globally with eight classes. NC itself describes each class in a single sentence. Everything beyond that comes either from the patch notes or from the press. This guide keeps those three apart, so you can see at a glance what is official, what is someone's assessment, and what nobody has confirmed yet.

The eight classes at a glance

The weapons come from the patch notes of 14 October 2026: each Halloween weapon skin there is "available only to" one class.

Class Weapon Official role (NC, shortened)
Gladiator Greatsword frontline vanguard with a colossal blade
Templar Longsword sworn guardian with an unbreakable shield
Assassin Dagger cold-blooded assassin who approaches unseen
Ranger Bow quiet hunter with a single, decisive shot
Chanter Staff venerable guardian who bolsters allies
Cleric Mace holy shepherd who preserves life
Sorcerer Spellbook harbinger of ruin with a storm of arcane power
Spiritmaster Orb herald of spirits with elemental power

The patch of 28 October 2026 raised the base HP of every class at level 45: Gladiator and Templar from 4,702 to 6,202 (+1,500), the other six classes from 4,702 to 5,702 (+1,000). NC's reason: together with lower boss attack, melee classes in particular should withstand boss attacks better.

The press assessments below come mainly from four articles: Mein-MMO's class overview (Karsten Scholz, 6 October 2026), Insider Gaming's beginner guide (8 October 2026) and two hands-on reports by Mein-MMO (Alexander Mehrwald, 8 October 2026) and MMORPG.com (6 October 2026). Most of it is the authors' opinion, not a test with measurements, and we say so where it matters.

Gladiator

NC: "A frontline vanguard who carries a colossal blade and tears through the battlefield like a raging storm." The Gladiator fights in melee with a greatsword.

Mein-MMO sees him as a damage dealer who "can support as a tank if needed" and calls him "still well-suited for beginners". Insider Gaming rates him medium for newcomers.

Templar

NC: "A sworn guardian who stands firm like a fortress wall, holding the battlefield with an unbreakable shield." Longsword and shield, front line.

Mein-MMO calls the Templar "the prototype of the tank" and writes that he "forgives many mistakes, making him excellent for beginners". The price, according to the same article: solo leveling is "quite slow". Insider Gaming also names him the best class for new players. Both are opinions; we have not found a hands-on test.

Assassin

NC: "A cold-blooded assassin who cuts through darkness and approaches unseen with deadly silence." Daggers, melee.

Both sources that rate difficulty agree here: Mein-MMO calls the Assassin "the glass cannon of Aion 2" and "not suitable" for beginners, Insider Gaming calls it "the least beginner-friendly class". MMORPG.com noticed in its review in progress that attacks from behind hit harder, "especially as an Assassin". The two difficulty ratings are opinions.

The patch of 28 October 2026 changed two Assassin skills: the HP effect of Heightened Sixth Sense goes up (1,000 / 2,000 / 4,000, shown at skill levels 5 / 10 / 20), and the base cooldown of Illusive Clone drops from 90 to 60 seconds.

Ranger

NC: "A quiet hunter who commands the battlefield with a single, decisive shot." Bow, ranged.

The sources disagree on difficulty. Mein-MMO calls the Ranger "heavily positional-dependent" and rates him medium. Insider Gaming calls him "arguably the easiest DPS class to get to grips with" and "a great class for anyone trying to play AION 2 solo". Both are opinions. We have no test that settles it.

Chanter

NC: "A venerable guardian who bolsters allies with divine blessings and steadfast protection." Staff.

The Chanter has the only first-hand endgame report among our sources. Alexander Mehrwald from Mein-MMO writes: "He primarily fights in melee, but also offers some ranged attacks," and: "I have managed high-level endgame content as a sole healing class without an additional cleric." The class overview by the same site adds that he lacks "the healing potential and resurrection abilities of the Cleric". Insider Gaming sees "a decent mix of both support and combat abilities".

The patch of 21 October 2026 fixed a display error: the effects of Spinning Strike did not show correctly.

Cleric

NC: "A holy shepherd who preserves life with the gentle touch of light." Mace.

Mein-MMO credits the Cleric with "the best group healing and protection spells in Aion 2" and calls solo play "very relaxed". Insider Gaming rates the class easy for newcomers. Both are opinions.

Sorcerer

NC: "A harbinger of ruin who devours all with a storm of arcane power." Spellbook, ranged magic.

Mein-MMO describes burst, area and control spells and warns that you have to "constantly keep an eye on your mana". Insider Gaming rates the Sorcerer medium for beginners.

The patch of 14 October 2026 fixed three Sorcerer skills. Fire Wall and Cold Storm did not apply their bonus damage when there was a difference in elevation, and another player's stronger Embers or Frostbite removed your own. Bittercold Wind's Frost cooldown reduction also failed with a difference in elevation.

The patch of 21 October 2026 fixed Cold Storm and Fire Wall again. Cold Storm did not deal its extra damage to targets with stacked Frostbite, its Frostbite effect did not match the skill level, and with Specialty 1 it applied Frostbite one extra time after the effect had ended. Fire Wall dealt extra damage to targets without Embers; that is fixed as well.

Spiritmaster

NC: "A herald of spirits who commands the battlefield with elemental power." Orb, fights together with summoned spirits.

Mein-MMO warns that this "can overwhelm beginners in chaotic situations". Insider Gaming rates the class medium to hard for newcomers.

The patch of 14 October 2026 fixed one bug: Summons from "Summon: Ancient Spirit" at level 15 or below did not activate their skills properly.

Which class suits you?

This is our summary of the press assessments above, not a statement by NC and not a ranking:

  • You are new and want an easy start: Templar or Cleric. Mein-MMO and Insider Gaming both call the Templar beginner-friendly; Insider Gaming rates the Cleric easy for newcomers.
  • You want to deal damage in melee: Gladiator, who can also step in as a tank.
  • You want to play mostly solo at range: Ranger, but keep in mind that the sources disagree on how easy he is.
  • You want to support a group and still fight: Chanter. The only first-hand endgame report among our sources is about him.
  • You like high risk and high damage: Assassin, which Mein-MMO calls not suitable for beginners and Insider Gaming the least beginner-friendly class.
  • You like magic and managing a resource: Sorcerer, or the Spiritmaster if you also want to control summons.

Choose carefully: NC has not said anything about changing your class later in the global version. Insider Gaming writes on 8 October 2026 that you currently cannot change class; if you want a different one, you create a new character. For the Korean version, Inven Global reports that the developers said class change vouchers "will not be pursued for the time being". That is a single report about another region. In the Transcendence dungeon launch event, rankings are "per server and per class", according to NC's launch event overview.

What is not confirmed yet

As of 20 October 2026, NC has not officially published:

  • armour types, difficulty ratings or a skill list per class,
  • how the Stigma and Daevanion systems work for each class (NC names both systems, for example in the server transfer notice, first published on 9 October 2026 and last updated on 20 October 2026, but does not describe them),
  • whether further classes will be added to the global version.

We do not fill those gaps with numbers from fan databases. We update this guide when NC publishes more.
